Our Values and Mission Statement
“Growing Together in Faith, Love and Learning” is our mission statement.
On their journey through our school, children will GROW TOGETHER, supported by a school community, to strengthen their FAITH; LOVE one another and LEARN to achieve excellence in everything they do.
We are a Catholic school who wish to help parents educate their children to appreciate the awe and majesty of God and His Creation, including respect for themselves and others as they recognise that all are made in God’s image. We will build a prayerful community who support each other on our Faith Journey by preparing for and sharing the Sacraments together.
We are determined to create an inclusive culture of learning where all children will be challenged in their thinking, to achieve to the best of their abilities and strive to become lifelong learners.
We will empower our children to become respected citizens to enable them to make valuable contributions locally, globally and to contribute to our world’s sustainable future.
This can be done most effectively when all staff, parents and children understand their responsibilities and work together towards the same goals, as detailed in our home/school agreement.
Our School Values
Jesus gave us the “Beatitudes” to help us all understand how to live our lives to become better people. This video explains more about the Beatitudes.
The Beatitudes are a list of eight blessings described by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. The Beatitudes offer valuable lessons about the qualities that God desires in his followers. They encourage us to strive for humility, peace, and faithfulness, and to live a life that reflects the love and compassion of Jesus. By embracing the teachings of the Beatitudes, we can experience the blessings of a fulfilled and meaningful life.
Our School Values are based on the beatitudes as the basis for how we want everyone to be at our school. Our School Values are displayed throughout our school.
Resilience
Sometimes we find life hard, we can feel knocked down, defeated or low. Resilience is the ability to recover quickly from difficulties.
Don’t be afraid and panic as God is with you. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid to try anything, for Jesus will be with you.
Deuteronomy 31:6
Hope
We have high hopes and aspirations for our future, our school and community. We also understand that faith gives us hope for both now and for the future, and that this hope brings confidence. Hope for us means that there is always a future whatever situation we are in, because God promised to never leave us, to always love us, and to help us in times of need.
Justice
Justice also means giving all people what it is right and fair for them to have: life, health, freedom and dignity. It is about acting out of a concern for what is right. It is about social justice, especially for those who suffer most and are least able to protect themselves.
Peace
In school, children learn about different kinds of peace including peace that comes when it is quiet, the things that make for peace of mind and the qualities of a peacemaker.
“Peace begins with a smile.” Mother Teresa
Compassion
Compassion is about ‘standing in someone else’s shoes’ when they are having a hard time. In other words, trying to understand how they might be feeling and doing our best to try to help. This is a time when we ask God to provide them with comfort.
Forgiveness
“I wish I hadn’t …” “I’m sorry…”“I didn’t mean to …”
Everyone makes mistakes, it’s part of being human. Sometimes our mistakes hurt others and then we need to say sorry. Sometimes mistakes made by other people hurt us. When this happens we need to be able to forgive. Forgiveness can be difficult but without it a new start is impossible. We have a choice to forgive others and we can ask God to help us.
Humility
Humility is putting the happiness and the well-being of others before yours. Humility makes you recognise that you are not the most important person of all and treating others with respect and kindness.
Wisdom
Wisdom is different from just being clever. Often wise people have lots of experience and can give good advice to help us make difficult decisions. As a school we pray to God to help us live our lives wisely.
