St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School

Growing Together in Faith, Love and Learning

Pupil Responsibilities

At St. Bernadette’s we are a happy community and it is vital that children play a genuine and active role in shaping and supporting our school community.

There are a lot of jobs to do around school to keep everything running smoothly, so the children are very busy!

Just like the world of work, if you want a job, you have to apply for it, be interviewed for it and convince the interview panel that you are the right person for the job. Of course you then have to do the job to the very best of your abilities, being conscientious, hard-working and committed.

Find out about the responsibilities children have around St. Bernadette’s………..

Year 6 Buddies

At St. Bernadette’s our Year 6 pupils have been paired with a Reception pupil to share various experiences and support our younger pupils.  Throughout the year, the Year 6 pupils spend some time reading and completing activities with their buddy.  They meet them at the school gates and have fun lunchtimes too!

Sports Leaders

When appointed, the sports leaders met with Mr Davies to discuss roles and responsibilities. The children were introduced to traditional games and decided which games that they thought the children would enjoy at break and lunch time. Our children lead games with and without equipment, to benefit our children’s time outside. These games encourage: team work, courage, resilience and communication between children.

Eco Council

The group is made up of a growing number of children in our school who care deeply about environmental issues and have a real desire to protect our planet and wildlife.

Head Boy, Head Girl and Deputy Head Boy and Girl

The school leaders are the group of four Year 6 pupils who are our Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl. They are leaders in our school and act as positive role models in every aspect of school life.

Mental Health Ambassadors

The role of the Mental Health Lead and the Ambassadors is:

1) To spread happiness and peace throughout the school.
2) To welcome new children and staff to the school.
3) To be kind, caring and helpful towards others.
4) To always treat others as you would like to be treated yourself.
5) Help other children if they need extra help with their mental health.
6) To always follow God’s word

Prefects

Our school Prefects are good role models to their peers.  They lead by example and constantly remind pupils to make the right behaviour choices in and out of the playground.  They play a key role in ensuring that all pupils obey the school rules of being respectful, ready and safe.

Class Librarians

We have class libraries which are monitored and organised by our class librarians. They help to keep our libraries tidy, organised and help to make sure that reading stays special and exciting in our school. Our librarians help their friends to select texts, order new and exciting books aswell as make their reading area inviting and cosy to inspire their class to explore new adventures.
